Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids
on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
to call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away...
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Just got back from hanoi yesterday but just got over the lethargy of the flight and all. hah. Slept the whole day away. The OCIP trip was fun . Did construction work and taught the kids english and arts and craft. I even met a couple of interesting people. The kids there were fun . I even made friends ... something that I didn't expect ... since I am somewhat considered as not friend material. oh well... I made friends. Friends like min , mee, lang ; just to name a few. They were nice people , always giving me stuff, offering me their company and all. In english class , I have 2 fave students. They were smart ...and it makes me think. really. students here have so much potential and yet, they don't have the opportunities that our kids in Singapore have and disregard. The kids in Tavan have to study in the day and work in the night. is it a dystopia or something? I dunno. but the knowledge that there's someone who's working really hard to give the kids a better life presents a hope. I met this guy outside the school who's believe it or not from hanoi. found out that he's conducting a workshop . The agenda , being to prevent exploitation and abuse of kids. Hopefully, this would extend to allowing every kid an education. I think I met him again in hanoi at the SOS village but I am not sure. oh well.. if it's fate , then we will meet again. haha.he was interesting because we were so engrossed in talking that he went the wrong way ... we were supposed to go opposite ways but yah...he went down with me and was called back by his companion.seems they were supposed to walk up. haha. Think I met him again in Hanoi but am not sure because the guy that i think was him is the sectary of SOS International in Vietnam. And that's like so... I dunno.Oh well... anyway... the kids in Tavan sorta make me feel really protective. Don't ask me why, just one of the days , I sorta reprimanded this Israeli for taking pictures of Min and Lang without their permission. Somehow or other, we got into an argument and yah...we got into a compromise. I dunno but I love the kids so much that on the last day, i just cried and cried . Miss them still but oh well....I will come back one day.And I changed my career plan. I don't wanna be a peace negoiator at the UN yet... I want to achieve a primary education for all..eradicating war is important but educating the people is more so... to make them aware of the world and its people.
